Many confluent network performance factors impede the connection between endpoint users and the application servers, data stores and other enterprise services they require in support of their data distributions function.  The biggest contributing factors that degrade the user experience are;

• Bandwidth limitations caused by network congestion issues and communication mode
• Latency induced by the cumulative effects of traversing end-to-end network pathways
• Data/packet loss due to signal degradation, network hardware issues and routings

SmartSync® harnesses a library of data specific compression algorithms that generate the highest possible yield of self compression and delta encoding at the byte level.  Packet loss mitigation is effectively achieved by the use of a content store that exists within both the server and client sides of the application.  These methods have proven to be more efficient than WAN optimization because the performance improvement is targeted within each application’s transport layer prior to entering the network pathways rather than using a single chokepoint appliance that comingles application data and broadly applies techniques ubiquitously.  The SmartSync® content store technology and lossless data transmission approach also compensates for network latency issues without the need for additional hardware at major nodes since each endpoint user’s computing device will be outfitted with the client-side SmartSync® component. Additionally, SmartSync® users will be able to realize the benefits of the technology wherever they chose to operate and can migrate freely throughout the network since the functionality is not tied to a specific consolidated network appliance.
