Features

The Ironhawk SmartSync® DCS Platform features in one single platform what previously required the complex integration of multiple, multi-vendor point solutions. Compression, synchronization, transport and content management are brought together on one platform, optimized specifically for the requirements of narrow-band satellite communications.

  1. Both a platform and a building block
  2. No other additional hardware required – a pure software solution
  3. Especially designed and built for narrowband communications (in contrast to other enterprise solutions)
  4. 100% data agnostic – compress any type of data regardless of underlying representation
  5. Distributed content management plus bidirectional data delivery
  6. Modular, pluggable architecture enables existing modules to be decoupled and 3rd party modules to be plugged in
  7. Robust error recovery mechanisms guarantee data delivery because data always synchronizes from the exact location at which connectivity was lost/interrupted
  8. Optimized to operate in low-bandwidth, high packet loss environments
  9. Works across any Java compliant, web services oriented architecture (SOA), and supports many standards-based systems and handheld devices
  10. FIPS 140-2 compliant

Architecture

DM3 comprises three major modules and is built on top of the Ironhawk SmartSync® DCS Platform. Modules may share machines with other modules, but more frequently they reside on separate machines. The DM3 modules are:

  1. Ironhawk-dr™, the Data Repository. This acts as a central repository for documents.
  2. Ironhawk-dmc™, the Data Management Center. This acts as a document "router" by determining which documents are applicable to which nodes; it also holds access rights to the documents. The user uses a GUI to customize, configure and control document applicability. By sending only applicable, relevant data to users, bandwidth is significantly reduced.
  3. Ironhawk-drs™, the Data Replication Store. This acts as a client for all documents, while maintaining local copies of applicable documents.

Features

DM3:

  1. Replicates data bi-directionally
  2. Net change, byte-level data compression and synchronization
  3. Maintains data consistency across unreliable online/offline networks
  4. Works with many data formats: XML, PDF, text, video/audio, and more
  5. Includes real-time, event triggered and scheduled data replication options
  6. Guarantees data delivery through error recovery mechanisms, ensuring that the data will synchronize from the exact place where connectivity was lost
  7. Optimized to operate in low-bandwidth, high-packet loss environments
  8. Works across any Java compliant, web services oriented architecture (SOA), and supports many standards-based systems and handheld devices
  9. FIPS 140-2 compliant
